From Mexico — don’t read this as Meta turning Instagram into Netflix. Meta just launched Meta One globally: a subscription layer for more AI usage and specialized features across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Meta AI. The core apps — and basic Meta AI — stay free.
Reuters frames the same split: Meta One for enhanced AI and new features; core functions and basic Meta AI remain free. That’s the product story I’m leading with.
What you pay for
Per Meta’s announcement, Meta One bundles more self-expression tools with higher usage of compute-heavy AI — more media generation with Meta AI (images and videos), more in-app tools like Restyle on Instagram, and for creator/business plans, more access to Meta Business Agent. Meta says it’s launching with more than 50 features and will expand to Edits and AI glasses over time.
I’m sticking to what Meta and Reuters list. No invented Muse benchmark wins — Meta only says media generation is powered by Muse models.

Plans from ~$2.99 — Meta’s published floors only
Meta (and Reuters) put the floors at $2.99/mo for single-product plans, $7.99/mo for individual bundles, and $14.99/mo for creator/business bundles. Meta’s own page lists WhatsApp Plus at $2.99, Instagram/Facebook Plus at $3.99, Core at $7.99, Premium at $19.99, and creator/business tiers starting higher. Plans, benefits, pricing, and availability may vary by region, app, and account — I’m not inventing a global price matrix.
15M subs and trials — attribute Reuters
Reuters says the service has already hit 15 million subscriptions and trials during its phased introduction — the same figure appears in Meta’s blog. That’s volume, not proven ARPU. I’m not extrapolating revenue.
My takeaway
From Mexico, the narrow read: Meta One is a paid lane for more Meta AI media generation, Restyle, and Business Agent capacity on top of apps that stay free at the core — starting around $2.99 depending on the plan. Reuters’ ~15M subs/trials is a phased-intro count, not a monetization proof. Sources: Reuters, Meta.
