Anthropic’s Claude tool for financial advisers

From Mexico — I’m watching Anthropic’s Monday move: Claude for Financial Advisors. Not another model drop. Claude plugged into the custodians and portfolio stack advisers already live in — so prep, reviews, and follow-up don’t eat the whole day.

Reuters says the product connects Claude to investment analytics and wealth-management software from BlackRock, Charles Schwab, and Addepar. Job list via Reuters: prepare for client meetings, review portfolios, handle follow-up. Same piece names more connectors: Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, and Zocks.

Connectors + skills, adviser stays in charge

Anthropic’s own Claude blog post frames it as connectors plus workflow skills — research, meeting prep, documentation — bundled as a plugin with guided setup. Firms pick which partners to wire in. Skills on the page include pre-meeting prep, portfolio rebalance review, post-meeting notes and follow-up, compliance/AI-policy checks, and estate/tax briefs. Anthropic is clear: investment recommendations and client-facing work still need human review and approval.

That’s the regulated-desk pitch. Claude stages briefs and drafts; the adviser approves. Reuters also notes this builds on Anthropic’s wider finance push — research, portfolio analysis, modeling, client materials — now aimed squarely at the advisory practice.

Days after OpenAI’s finance ChatGPT

Timing isn’t subtle. Reuters puts the launch days after rival OpenAI shipped ChatGPT for Financial Services (Sep 10) — aimed more at investment bankers and equity researchers with research, modeling, and client materials, per Reuters’ OpenAI write-up. Different desk, same week: OpenAI on the banking/research side, Anthropic on the adviser workflow side.

From Mexico, my takeaway is narrow: Anthropic shipped Claude for Financial Advisors on Sep 14, wiring Claude into BlackRock, Schwab, Addepar and a longer partner list so advisers can prep meetings, review portfolios, and chase follow-up with human approval still required — and it lands right after OpenAI’s finance ChatGPT.
