From Mexico — don’t lead with the round size. Soft twin of other $40M seeds this week isn’t the story. The Register and TechStartups both frame TypeSafe AI around a thesis: Jev is a frontier model for machines — typed probabilistic decisions other software can consume — not another chatbot.
Jev: typed Choice/Score for machines, not chat
Per The Register, Jev doesn’t return natural language. You feed it a state (JSON or a string like a support ticket), then question primitives — Choice, Score, Noul — and you get structured answers with probabilities. Example shape in the piece: department Choice like {"billing": 0.08, "technical": 0.85, "sales": 0.07} plus a confidence score. Useful for routing and workflows; awkward as a human chat UX — and that’s the point.
CEO Diogo Almeida (ex-OpenAI; Register and TechStartups both note RLHF / early ChatGPT work) says the company is building machine-native AI because people can’t be the only consumers of intelligence. Speed and cost — company claims only
I’m labeling these as TypeSafe claims, not my endorsement. TechStartups quotes Almeida on X: 20–200× faster, 40–400× cheaper (output tokens free in that framing), plus a “100X” marketing line in their headline. The Register cites company figures like ~70ms–500ms responses, 40×–200× vs traditional LLMs, demo timings, and $/MTok comparisons — all company-side. Same for “hallucination-free”: The Register notes that isn’t a fair apples-to-apples vs chat models — structured probabilities can still be wrong. I’m not endorsing that slogan.
