From Mexico — I’m watching legal AI move like a public market. Harvey’s company blog says the startup closed a $550M round at a $15.5B valuation, and Reuters matches those numbers on the same day. Same coverage: Harvey also acquired Guardrails AI, an agent-security shop in San Francisco. I’m skipping today’s earlier OpenAI and Anthropic leads. This evening slot is the legal-AI mega-round.
Per the Harvey blog, Diffusion and Lightspeed co-led. Existing names stay on the cap table — Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, a16z, Coatue, Conviction, Elad Gil, Evantic, GIC, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Verified Capital, WNDR. New money also includes Sapphire Ventures and Whale Rock. Harvey says it already covers 80% of the Am Law 100 and five of the Fortune 10 in-house teams. Co-founders Winston Weinberg and Gabe Pereyra frame the raise as backing for a global partner for legal teams — not a toy chatbot.
Guardrails AI — fourth acquisition this year
Reuters (Sara Merken) reports Harvey bought Guardrails AI, which builds AI security and agent-behavior testing. Terms are undisclosed. It’s Harvey’s fourth acquisition in 2026. The product stack Reuters lists is familiar enterprise legal work: contract analysis, due diligence, compliance, litigation support. For comps on the same wire: Legora raised $550M at $5.55B in March; Clio took $500M at $5B last November. Different verticals, same heat.

From $11B in March to $15.5B now
Reuters reminds readers that Harvey’s prior round was March’s $200M at $11B. Six months later the primary figure is $15.5B — that’s what I’m using, because the company and Reuters agree. The Next Web prints $15.6B; I’ll call that press variance, not a second truth. TNW also says ARR passed $400M and customers jumped past 3,000 orgs (from about 1,300 in March). Valuation up roughly 42% in half a year; revenue roughly doubled on that same reporting.
Product color from TNW and the company post: Harvey shipped its first post-trained open-weight legal model — Tenet, fine-tuned on Moonshot’s Kimi K3 — plus Harvey LAB, a Legal Agent Benchmark. Diffusion’s Kris Fredrickson (ex-Coatue, already a Harvey backer) is in the co-lead mix. Named customers on the TNW side include Latham & Watkins; Microsoft’s in-house team gets a mention too. Weinberg told reporters more acquihires are likely. From Mexico, my takeaway is blunt — vertical AI with real Am Law penetration is still raising like foundation-model shops.
