I’m catching this one from Mexico at the midday slot, and it’s not another vague “healthcare AI raise.” Forus — the NYC AI network for medicine — just closed a $150 million Series C at a $3 billion valuation, led by Bain Capital Ventures. That’s the lead on FinSMEs’ Sep 8 brief, matched by Bloomberg and Forus’s own Series C story. The product pitch is concrete: AI agents that sit between a clinical decision and a patient actually starting treatment.
Bloomberg notes the cheque landed just months after a prior round. Bain has been in since the early stage; existing names came back again. Per FinSMEs, participants include Thrive Capital, General Catalyst, Accel, Redpoint, BoxGroup, Pear VC, Vast Ventures, and SV Angel. The company post says every existing institutional investor reinvested, and also lists Avra, Human Capital, and Neo alongside those same names — total funding now more than $300 million. Founded in 2023 (Bloomberg); the brand shifted from Tandem to Forus in May 2026.
What the agents actually do after the Rx
CEO and founder Sahir Jaggi’s company connects doctors, pharmacies, payers, and biopharma (FinSMEs / Forus). Embedded in provider workflows, the agents manage everything between a clinical decision and a patient starting treatment — navigating insurance, financial assistance, and the supply chain / pharmacies across drugs, payers, and pharmacies in the country, free for providers and patients (FinSMEs, Bloomberg). Each agent works like a case manager over medical history, coverage, and financial situation, drawing on clinical models, specialized sub-agents, and what Forus has learned from millions of cases.
Coverage, biopharma, and where the $150M goes
The access gap is ugly. Forus says more than a third of patients prescribed high-cost or complex medicines never receive their first dose — and the fix they’re shipping is giving every prescription its own AI agent. Providers now use the system across all 50 states, reaching patients in 85% of U.S. residential ZIP codes (FinSMEs / company). They’re also working with 9 of the top 15 global biopharma companies plus many biotechs.
Use of funds, per FinSMEs: expand to all specialties and care settings, extend what the agents can do across the full path to treatment, and accelerate investment in the team. From Mexico, I’m less interested in the $3B meme and more in whether agents can close that first-dose gap at national scale — free for the clinic and the patient, paid somehow by the network that needs medicine to move.
